The New York Islanders are based in Uniondale, New York and play in the NHL Atlantic Division. The New York Islanders started playing in 1972 and in their early years only they showed the world what they were capable of.

Season 1976 and the following season, the Islanders found way to the semifinals but were beaten by the Montreal Canadiens, who went on becoming the champions.
