Based in New Orleans, Louisiana; the New Orleans Saints play in the NFC South. The franchise was founded in 1967 and played their first game against the Los Angeles Rams. The Saints finished their first season with a disappointing record of 3-11. The New Orleans Saints continued to disappoint the fans as they were not able to post winning record for 2 decades. They only managed to finish at .500 mark on two occasions in 1979 and 1983.

1987, the New Orleans Saints finished the season with an impressive 12-3 record and also made their first trip to the playoffs. The Saints made their second trip to the playoffs in 1990 and that followed by two more back to back playoff appearances.

1991, the New Orleans Saints won their first ever Division title but later on lost to the Falcons in Wild Card playoffs. After making to the playoffs for three years in a row from 1990 to 1992, the Saints could not return to the playoffs until 2000.

2000 season, the Saints made the combined achievement of both winning Division title and reaching the playoffs. The team once again stumbled and could make their next playoff appearance in 2006.  Season 2006, the Saints won their third division title and for the first time in franchise history they reached the Conference championship game. The Saints could not capture the NFC championship as they lost to the Bears.
